KRACHI SHS GETS NEW BOARD (PAGE 46, JULY 8, 2010)

A 15-member reconstituted Board of Governors has been inaugurated for the Krachi Senior High School (KSHS) at Kete Krachi in the Volta Region.
It is under the chairmanship of Nana Mprah Besamuna III, the Paramount Chief of the Krachi Traditional Area.
Inaugurating the board, the Volta Regional Director of Education, Mr G. K. Kloanyi, cautioned members against seeing themselves as another administrative body of the school.
“The role of the board of governors in a second cycle institution cannot be overemphasised. First and foremost, the board operates in an advisory capacity for the total welfare of the school,” he said.
He expressed happiness that the leadership and management of the school were making frantic efforts to transform the institution.
The regional director urged the new board to work expeditiously to solve the challenges facing the school such as the poor infrastructure, inadequate computers and the recruitment of qualified staff.
The headmaster of the KSHS, Mr Musah Yamba Issahaku, assured the board that he and the management were doing everything in their power to improve discipline and academic performance of students.
He extended his gratitude to the Krachi West District Assembly for its assistance in improving infrastructure of the school.
He also commended the Member of Parliament for the Krachi West Constituency, Mr Osei Sarfo, for donating some roofing sheets and bags of cement towards the completion of the school’s mosque.
He thanked him for giving two sets of jerseys to the school for entertaining the students and staff when they visited the Parliament House in Accra.
At the ceremony, Nana Mprah Besamuna III, on behalf of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications, presented 20 computers and accessories to the school.
